Why We Began

As the founder of Paws4Christ Foundation, I did not set out to create an organization. These stories came first. They are just a few of many, and they stayed with me, making inaction impossible.  Through real moments with real people and their pets, Paws4Christ was born. The stories below are a few of the moments that shaped our mission.

When a serious fall forced an unexpected separation between Shirley and her aging beagle Leo, thoughtful support helped preserve their bond and showed how connection can remain even through major life transitions.

When a sudden health crisis separated Murl from his beloved dog Dahlia, temporary care and steady support helped keep her safe until he was able to return home.

As Sharon faced advancing illness, the bond she shared with Ruby led her to thoughtfully plan for Ruby’s future, showing how love and responsibility can be lived out even in a short time together.

As Amy’s illness progressed, her ability to meet Gilly and Remi’s daily needs declined, illustrating how loving owners can struggle to meet care needs without support.

Through my time as a volunteer in dog rescue, and in one case simply as a neighbor, I found myself close enough to witness what many may never see. People facing illness, aging, or medical crisis were doing their best to care for the pets they loved while navigating circumstances that had quietly become overwhelming.

In my role as the intake coordinator for Houston Beagle Rescue, I became aware of how often situations like these exist. Outside of that role, they are easy to miss. Unless it is a family member, a neighbor, or someone close to us, these moments often remain unseen.

If these situations were visible within my small sphere of experience, it became clear the need extended far beyond it.
