Murl & Dahlia:
Faithfulness in Life's Fragile Moments
Murl and his dog, Dahlia, shared a quiet, steady companionship. She was always by his side, faithful, gentle, and devoted. Their bond was woven into the rhythm of daily life, shaped by simple moments and constant presence.
One afternoon, an ambulance arrived outside Murl and Goi’s home. Murl had suffered a sudden cardiac arrest and was rushed to the hospital. Goi went with him, leaving home abruptly and entering a season filled with fear, uncertainty, and long hours of waiting.

In the midst of the emergency, Goi faced another immediate concern. Dahlia was suddenly without her people, and Goi did not know what to do or how long she would be away. Already overwhelmed, the responsibility of ensuring Dahlia was cared for added to her distress.
Neighbors stepped in to help. Dahlia was welcomed into a nearby home, not simply as a pet needing supervision, but as family. She was kept safe, comforted, and cared for while Murl fought to recover. Her routines were preserved as much as possible, offering stability during a time of disruption.
When Goi was able to return home briefly from the hospital to shower and change clothes, Dahlia went home with her. For that short window of time, familiarity and comfort returned. When Goi needed to return to the hospital, Dahlia was cared for again, moving gently between homes as needed, always remaining connected to her family.
Days later, when Murl regained consciousness, his first words were a simple question:
“Where is Dahlia?”......That question said everything.
Dahlia was not just a pet. She was family. She was home. Even in the middle of crisis, the bond between them remained intact, offering comfort to both Murl and Goi during an overwhelming season.
Stories like Murl and Dahlia’s reveal how sudden emergencies affect entire families. They also show how temporary foster care, when offered with intention and compassion, can preserve connection rather than sever it. These moments reflect the heart behind Paws4Christ, a mission shaped by the belief that caring for a pet as family, even for a short time, can bring peace, stability, and relief when life becomes fragile.
It is the intention of Paws4Christ to work alongside hospitals and care teams so families are made aware, early on, that support for their pets may be available during medical emergencies or extended hospital stays.
